St David’s Day Celebration

Tuesday, 1 March 2016

On Tuesday 1st March 2016 we celebrated St David’s day.

Miss Bradley did a very special assembly where we learnt about Wales and its patron saint David. One of the girls dressed up in traditional Welsh clothes and Karen cooked a special Welsh themed dinner. Thank you to the Bartlett family for their very kind gift of daffodils. Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus!

Whitemore Lakes Day 5

Sunday, 17 June 2012

Sorry for the delay in putting this on. Think I’ve done nothing but eat, drink and sleep for 24 hours. Anyway Thursday night saw the disco, there was only us there as our fellow school didn’t want to share but we made the best of it . The dancing wasn’t brilliant but everyone did get up for Moves Like Jagger. Friday morning came and Miss Ellicott made a hasty departure for her birthday weekend while the rest of us packed and got ready for our last activities. To begin with half of the group did archery while Miss Parkes enjoyed the adventure course with the rest.
After a break we all went for our final activity – orienteerinf. This also coincided with the first real rain of the week. What fun it is looking for clues on a map while soaking wet and extremely tired. After lunch it was back home and hopefully everyone managed to stay awale to see England beat Sweden. Overall an incredible week. Well done all concerned.

Whitemoor Lakes Day 4

Thursday, 14 June 2012

It’s our last full day here and numerous visitors from school have arrived. Activity wise we’ve done a combination of archery, zip wire, challenge course, games and volleyball and shortly it’s the disco. Lots of hair gel and perfume around hope the dancing is good. Another great day – the ghost came again last night but strangely no-one was scared – is he getting too familiar? At tea tonight we had a birthday party for Miss Ellicott (she’s 82 tomorrow) with cards and cake It’s our last night tonight but there’s still lots going on tomorrow so there will be one more update. Luke’s poems continue to get worse. Anyway oh plop it’s time for me to stop.(you’ll get what I mean by this on Friday night).

Whitemoor Lakes Day 3

Wednesday, 13 June 2012

This morning everyone built rafts and sailed them, well actually one group didn’t sail theirs because it fell to bits after 2 seconds however every single person was swimming in the lake by the end. Sadly I think this dip also ruined the memory card on my camera deleting the photos from the rest of the week in the process.
This afternoon we’ve been to Cannock Chase, the intended walk was 5 miles but due to Miss Ellicott’s de-tour it was more like 7. During this trip we also played hide and seek, fed the ducks, did some drumming and paddled in the stream before going to the cafe to finish.
It’s been a free evening tonight before a hectic day again tomorrow.

Whitemoor Lakes Day 2

Tuesday, 12 June 2012

Well today’s been a busy day – we’ve been climbing, abseiling, fencing, on the zip wire, on the high ropes course, on the giant trapezium and canoeing. Chris, Liam, Luke, Mr Mobberley, Alice, Isabella, Miss Ellicott and maybe others went for a swim as a result of their canoes being capsized. We’ve been really lucky with the weather and everyone has shown fantastic determination and bravery in doing some very tricky activities. Everyone at the centre has been impressed with the enthusiasm, manners and behaviour of the whole of our group which truly have been terrific (mind you they didn’t see certain people after they came back to the dormitories after being soaked in the lake) “what have I gained from that except pneumonia” was the quote from an un-named student I believe. More activities tomorrow including a hike through Cannock Chase.

Whitemore Lakes Day 1

Monday, 11 June 2012

We have all arrived and had a fun first day. After settling in and finding our way round we’ve been to camp fire tonight including acting, singing and acting. A full day of activities awaits tomorrow so watch this space.

Jubilee Celebrations

Monday, 4 June 2012

On Wednesday 30th May St John Bosco school went red, white and blue to celebrate The Queen’s diamond jubilee. In the morning everyone sang the national anthem and made bunting, hats and other items then at lunchtime we enjoyed a whole school picnic of traditional British food. The sun shone brightly and the occasion was enjoyed by all participants.

Soccer Star Challenge

Friday, 27 April 2012

Pupils from St John Bosco Primary School developed their penalty skills and raised money for a good cause after The Soccer Star Challenge arrived at school.
Each pupil in the school took it in turns to take 3 penalties into the special inflatable goal which used a sensor to measure the speed of the shot.
The children had been introduced to the challenge several weeks ago by none other than Gully-Mouse from Gullivers Kingdom and many of them had raised money for the school’s chosen charities.
Once the challenge was complete and the scores recorded various prizes for the fastest shots were awarded including trophies, balls and tickets for a trip to Wembley.
Everyone enjoyed activities and raising funds at the same time.
