Archbishop Visit

Sunday, 4 April 2010

Children from our school were among some of the first in the Diocese to meet Archbishop Bernard Longley when he visited their parish church of Holy Cross to celebrate Mass last Sunday.

With over 200 parishes in the diocese and having only taken on the role in December the children were really honoured to meet Archbishop Longley so soon. During his homily he spoke of the fabulous atmosphere in the school and parish community and paid tribute to the parish priest, Fr Timothy Burke, one of the longest serving priests in the diocese. Later the children were able to meet with him and ask him questions about his role after Mass had finished.

We all hope that Archbishop Longley will be able to visit our school in the near future, perhaps to share in our weekly Thursday Mass.
