Year 3/4 Football vs All Saints

Tuesday, 28 May 2013

On Friday, our year 3 and 4 football team played away at All Saints in their first ever competitive fixture.

Bosco dominated the game from the start and came out deserving winners with a convincing 8-0 victory.

Maicie captained the team and put in a truly inspirational performance with 4 goals.

Jamie, Reon, Alex and Nolhan also chipped in with good goals.

Thanks to Dylan for his help. You were an excellent assistant manager Dylan!

The whole squad played well so the future looks very bright for sport at Bosco!

Well done to Jamie, Alex, Maicie, George, Reon, Liam, Timarley, Keenan, Nolhan and Sian.

Commenius Trip to Sweden

Tuesday, 28 May 2013

Last Saturday, Miss Ellicott, Mrs Finnegan and Miss Parkes headed over to Sweden for the next meeting of the Commenius project.

We flew into Stockholm and spent Sunday sightseeing in that beautiful city.

On Monday we spent the day reviewing and planning the project before heading to church to watch a performance of The Secret Garden by the younger children in the school. It was fantastic!

On Tuesday we had an excellent day in school meeting all of the children and finding out about life at school in Sweden. We also managed to Skype the Bosco year 5 and 6 children which was brilliant. Miss Ellicott also found time for a quick game of football with some of the Swedish children.

In the evening our hosts put on a lovely BBQ and farewell party for us with fun games and delicious food.

We flew back home on Wednesday and enjoyed telling our children all about our fabulous experience.

A big thank you to our Swedish hosts.

We look forward to welcoming visitors for the next stage of the project to England in October.

Y6 Post SATs celebration

Tuesday, 28 May 2013

On Friday 17th May, Year 6 headed to Upton Warren residential centre for a night away to celebrate the success of the year and reward them for all of their hard work.

We travelled over in the school minibus (thanks Mr Masterson) and arrived mid afternoon. Some of the children helped to put up some tents, we unpacked, had a tour of the grounds and then played some games.

Just before tea our special guest arrived…..Mrs Stocking. She came all the way down from Huddersfield to spend the evening with us.

Other than seeing Mrs Stocking the highlight of the trip appeared to be tea. Miss Ellicott ordered a fish and chip supper for everyone which went down very well. Mrs Finnegan joined us for tea but surprisingly declined to spend the night in a tent.

In the evening we played more games before building a camp fire.

The children all enjoyed spending the night in their tents and were up bright and early to play football and have breakfast (cooked by Mrs Carter) before heading off for their activities. They did a mixture of climbing, tunnelling, low ropes and archery.

As always the children were so well behaved and a credit to our school.
