Sleepover

Sunday, 30 June 2013

On Friday night 49 children and 4 staff slept over at school on the hall floor.
The evening began with families being invited to join us for tea – chip butties which went down a storm!
After they’d left us we played games outside before putting a DVD on and going to bed.
In the morning we had breakfast and played more games then headed home to catch up on some of the sleep that we’d lost!
Thanks to Mrs Carter and Mrs Hart for all of their help and for kindly giving up their Friday night for us.

Girls’ Football Catholic Cup Runners Up

Monday, 17 June 2013

Today 5 girls went to the Goals Soccer Centre in Perry Barr to represent St John Bosco in a 5 aside competition for all Catholic schools in and around the Birmingham area.

There were 24 teams split into 4 groups of 6 with only the winning team from each group to progress through to the semi finals.

We played 5 games in our league and managed to win all 5, scoring a total of 26 goals and conceding none! We beat schools such as St Margaret Mary, St Francis and St Chads.

This meant that we won our group comfortably to qualify for the semi finals where we were drawn against St Bernadette’s. This was a much closer contest, tough fortunately we managed to come out on top with a 1-0 victory to earn us a place in the final.

In the final we faced St Martin de Porres who also qualified for the final having won all of their fixtures.

It was a close game with both teams playing some good football. Disappointingly, we ended up losing 2-0 after an excellent game of football between two great sides.

Well done to the girls who played. Runners up in a competition of this magnitude is an excellent achievement.

The team:
Agata (c), Abbie, Maicie, Taylor and Angelee

Sandwell Netball Champions

Monday, 10 June 2013

On Thursday we went to George Salter School to represent West Bromwich in the Sandwell Netball Finals having previously won the West Bromwich tournament.

We played 4 games in our group and convincingly won all 4 of them to earn us in a place in the final.

Here we met Cape Hill and despite playing the better netball we found ourselves level at 2-2 at the final whistle. We, therefore, needed to go to golden goal, so the next goal wins.

Fortunately, we were able to get the ball to Elliot B in the circle who remained calm to score and win the tournament for us.

This means that we are now the champions of Sandwell and go on to represent Sandwell in the Black Country games.

Well done to the whole squad; Captain Taylor, Abbie H, Agata, Dylan, Elliot B, Elliot H and Lukas. Good luck in the next round!

Thank you for the parental support at the tournament and special thanks to Mrs Butler for help with lifts.

Sandwell Brass Concert

Monday, 10 June 2013

On Friday we were fortunate enough to have a visit from Mrs Reeves and the rest of her brass band. Mrs Reeves comes in on a weekly basis and teaches children in KS2 how to play brass instruments.

We were entertained with a fantastic performance from the Sandwell brass band before our own Bosco brass band joined in for a couple of songs which they expertly delivered. Thankyou and well done to all of those involved.
