Football vs Causeway Green

Friday, 22 November 2013

Today we played away at Causeway Green in a league fixture.

On a large pitch with big goals we took advantage of the space available and played some great passing football.

We ended up deserved 10-5 winners.

Well done to Jamie, Doyle and Elliot for scoring hat tricks and to Josh for his goal. A special mention to Jordan for an excellent performance in his first match.

Thank you to Lee for driving some of the players to the match.

That’s it now until after Christmas for our football team.

Girls football tournament

Friday, 22 November 2013

On Saturday the girls played football at the Birmingham City Football Club training ground.

Against some really good opposition they played extremely well and did themselves proud.

Well done girls!

Philippines Appeal

Friday, 22 November 2013

Today we did a fundraising event to raise money for the people suffering in the Philippines at the moment.

Children dressed as teachers and teachers as children which was really fun. Well done to all those who took part; many looked very much alike the teacher they were dressing up as.

In the afternoon we had a game show – Are you smarter than a 10 year old?

Well done to Miss Evans and Miss Whitehouse who won the game!

Rememberance Day

Thursday, 14 November 2013

On Rememberance Day we held a service to think about and pray all those people who have died during war.
In classes we also wrote prayers and poems as well as making poppies.
Here is one of the fantastic poems that were written:

In Flander’s field where the poppies blow,
Near to the crosses in each row,
On the 11th month, 11th hour and 11th day,
Everyone stands and has a prayer to say.
The Queen comes out to show her respect,
Everyone comes out to pray and reflect.

We are proud of our soldiers who come and fight,
They all work hard day and night.
That’s why we wear a poppy today,
To remember the brave that passed away.

We think of the families that have lost their loved ones,
We remember them by singing songs.
We wear a poppy on our shirt,
To remember the soldiers that have been hurt.

Catholic Cup

Saturday, 9 November 2013

St John Bosco headed over to Erdington on Thursday, driven by Mrs Finnegan in the minibus, to play in the Catholic Cup.

We were dressed in our brand new kit with track suit tops so certainly looked the part!

The team played really well and ended up finishing second, but were extremely unfortunate to not win the competition.

Well done to all those that played, especially our player of the tournament, Maicie Golding.

West Brom Champions

Saturday, 9 November 2013

Well done to our boys who are the West Brom Schools joint champions and to the girls who are West Brom Schools Runners Up.

Special mention to Ellie Whitehouse for her great goal and to Jamie Chappell and Georgia Davis for winning Player of the Tournament awards.

Thanks to ex pupils Luke Whitehouse, Dylan Harvey and Elliot Butler for helping to coach and support our teams.
