Sainsbury’s School Games World Cup Day

Wednesday, 11 June 2014

Today we marked the start of the World Cup with a day celebrating the values of sport. All the children in KS2 were split into teams of 6 and given a country each. The teams then competed in the World Cup.

All of the children played fairly, but with passion and determination, showing each other respect and giving 100%.

We began the day with an opening ceremony where we discussed the core values from the Olympic legacy and then learnt more about the history and culture of the countries of the World Cup.

We then played the group matches in the morning before parents, friends, families and the local community joined us in the afternoon for the knockout stages.

The final saw England take on Brazil and congratulations to England who were our World Cup winners.

Well done to everyone for their achievements this week.

Rugby Champions!

Thursday, 5 June 2014

Today we went to Stuart Bathurst to play in the cluster tag rugby tournament. We took 2 teams and both did brilliantly. The B team played 7; winning 5, drawing 1 and losing 1 (against our A team). This left them in joint 2nd place out of 8 teams.

The A team were the unbeaten champions with 6 wins and 1 draw. This meant that they were the overall champions finishing 1st out of 8 teams.

Therefore we are the cluster tag rugby champions. Well done to all those involved!

Trip to Wembley

Wednesday, 4 June 2014

We took the minibus down to Wembley on Friday to watch England take on Peru. For many of the children it was there first ever trip to the home of English football.
The game ended 3-0 with goals from Sturridge, Jagielka and Cahill.
All of the children had a good time and as always represented the school really well.

Sports results

On Monday we played football against St Gregory’s at lightwoods park. We struggled as the goals were so small but we eventually broke through with a goal from Jamie Chappell. We continued to dominate the game and two more goals followed: one each for Josh Harris and Elliot Hill. This meant the final score was 3-0 to Bosco and confirmed our place in the playoffs.

On Wednesday we went to Shireland for our final netball league match where we faced St Francis Xavier. We dominated the match and ended up 13-5 victors. Well done to the whole squad: Alfie, Elliot, Jamie, Josh, Megan, Abbie and Sinead. This victory ensures we finish as group winners with a 100% winning record. We now move on to the final where we’ll face the winners of the other section of the league.

Thursday saw us travel to Rounds Green for our final match of the Smethwick league before the playoffs. Again we dominated the match this time winning 5-0 with a hat trick from Elliot and a brace from Jamie. Player of the match was Alfie as he controlled our defence ensuring we kept a clean sheet.
