Confirmation 2015

Thursday, 25 June 2015

On Tuesday evening 28 of our Year 5 and 6 children celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Michael’s Church with Bishop David McGough and Fr Stan.

The event was a wonderful occasion and our children were an absolute credit to the school.

Readers were outstanding and all the children making the Sacrament did everything with such reverence and grace.

Special thanks to those who helped us – our class mates for coming to church to support us, Fr Stan for helping us prepare for the Sacrament, Mrs Hart for making the booklets, Mrs Carter for coordinating the buffet, Miss Parkes for taking the photos, Miss Bradley and Miss Jones for helping to set up the church, our sponsors for agreeing to support us and our parents and families for always being there for us and providing food the buffet.

Final thanks to Bishop McGough for the lovely service and for visiting our school and speaking to us with such kindness.

Visit from the Bishop

Thursday, 25 June 2015

On Tuesday afternoon, Bishop David McGough visited school to talk to the Year Five and Six children ahead of their Confirmation that evening.

He spoke to them about receiving the Holy Spirit, Pentecost and how to show that they are followers of God by their actions.

The children really enjoyed listening to the Bishop and he was equally impressed with our school and children. Bishop McGough commented that our children were very well behaved, polite and knowledgeable and he was pleased with the work that they had done in preparation for Confirmation.

Cricket Tournament

Monday, 22 June 2015

On Wednesday we took two Cricket teams to George Salter to play in the West Bromwich schools cricket tournament.

Both teams played really well. Team One, captained by Liam, won all of their matches and ended up eventual winners. They played superbly, hitting many 4s and 6s and taking some unbelievable catches. Well done!

Our 2nd team, captained by Arun, also played really well. They won one and lost one so just missed out on qualifying for the final.

Well done to all those that played and a big thank you to Mr Baker from Staffordshire County Cricket Club who has been coaching our children in PE for the last two terms.

Rugby – Black Country Games

Monday, 22 June 2015

Having won the Sandwell competition our Tag Rugby team progressed to the Black Country Games in order to represent Sandwell.

They played really well against some tough opposition and did themselves and our school proud. Unfortunately they didn’t make it through to the semi final stage.

Football at Pulse

Monday, 22 June 2015

Teams from Y2/3, Y4/5 and Y6 played in a football tournament at Pulse in Wednesbury. Despite the horrible weather conditions they all played really well.

The Y4/5 team unfortunately lost on penalties in the semi finals, the Y6 team won 4 and lost 1 but that wasn’t enough to make the final and the Y2/3 team won 1, drew 1 and lost 1.

Well done to all those that played.

Hockey Tournament

Monday, 22 June 2015

Our Year 5/6 team played in a Hockey tournament at Edgbaston Hockey Club.

We won our first three games scoring a total of 9 goals and conceding none. This meant that we qualified for the semi finals where we faced St Laurence. Unfortunately, we lost this game 1-0. Therefore, we played in the 3rd/4th playoff which we won 4-0 meaning that we finished 3rd overall out of 12 teams which was a good achievement.

Well done to all those involved.
