Hockey Runners-up

Tuesday, 18 April 2017

Our Y5/6 Hockey team played in a tournament at King Edward’s VI School last Thursday against schools from around Birmingham and Sandwell.

We played really well and ended up winning three, drawing two and losing one.

This meant that we ended up as runners-up so came away with silver medals. A special well done to Taylor who was our player of the tournament.

Sandwell Tennis Champions!

Thursday, 6 April 2017

Huge congratulations to our Y3/4 Tennis team who participated in the Sandwell schools Tennis tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Tipton Sports Academy.

In total, ten teams took part. We entered three teams. Team C played really well and were unlucky not to progress to the semi-finals but ended up in a respectable 5th place.

Team A and Team B both won their groups and so reached the semi-finals. Team A won their semi-final 3-1 against Wood Green Juniors and Team B drew 2-2 against Ryders Green but won on points difference.

Therefore, Team A and Team B played against each other in the final where Team A came out the overall winners with a 3-1 victory. Well done to Mati, Jacob, Marnie and Ochuko who are the Sandwell champions and to Cayden, Remari, Grace and Paulina who are the Sandwell Runners-up.

We now go through to represent Sandwell in the Blackcountry Games.

Y5 Holy Week Assembly

Thursday, 6 April 2017

Year 5 looked at the events of the Last Supper.

We told the story of how Jesus shared the Passover meal with his friends and spoke of how one of them would betray him.

We included those important spoken by Jesus when he shared around the bread and wine. These are the words spoken by our priests when we receive Holy Communion.

We shared prayers and hymns with the rest of the school and even included some of the songs from Born For This!

Y5 Play in a Day!

Tuesday, 4 April 2017

On Monday 3rd April, Year 5 spent the day rehearsing at Stuart Bathurst for their performance of ‘Born For This’.

Born For This tells the story of the events of the Stations of the Cross. Year 5 assisted the year 12 and 13 students in performing these important and significant moments.

We started the day by learning the wonderful songs with Mrs Pepper, their head of performing arts. We then worked with the A-Level students to block our movements and choreograph dances.

We then had a final rehearsal before our parents arrived at 7pm to watch our final performance.

Year 5 represented the school maginificently; Mrs Pepper said that they were the best class they has every worked with. All of the children sang beautifully and acted fantastically.
