JLR Maths Trip

Friday, 28 September 2018

Today 12 children from Y3-Y6 had the opportunity to visit Jaguar LandRover Engineering Site in Wolverhampton where they took part in various maths challenge workshops. They also had a VIP tour around the assembly hall where they witnessed robots assembling huge engine parts. The children also took part in a maths challenge where they had to manage a budget in order to decide which engine part they could assemble themselves! Quite a challenge but all groups managed to construct different parts of an engine. In Daniel’s words, “What an awesome day!” It was such an exciting day and all the children behaved impeccably. Thank you to Kerry, Liz and Claire for arranging the workshop and we look forward to inviting another 12 children to the science workshop next term.

Cricket trip to Edgbaston

Monday, 24 September 2018

15 children came along to Edgbaston, one of the country’s top cricket grounds, to watch part of the County Championship game between Warwickshire and Kent. The aim is to inspire these children to play more cricket themselves. The weather was pleasant and we had a good evening, watching Warwickshire dominate the game as their batters scored 148 without losing a wicket at the close of play. One player scored 100 and received a great reception from the crowd. After play finished a number of Warwickshire players were kind enough to come out and meet us for photos and autographs. The children all behaved well, representing Bosco as we’d expect. Thanks to the staff who gave up their time to make the trip happen.

New outdoor library

Sunday, 16 September 2018

We are pleased to unveil our new outdoor library which is in use every lunch time in our outdoor classroom. This is in addition to our weekly minibus trip to the local library and it’s all part of our philosophy to promote a love of reading. Our lunch time library is already proving to be very popular. We have some extremely enthusiastic year 6 monitors running the library and we are very grateful for their support. We are currently collecting more books to add to this library, with a prize up for grabs for the class who bring in the most books. Thank you to those who have already donated. Any further book donations will be greatly appreciated. Well done to everyone who has been involved in setting up and running the library so quickly and efficiently.
