House Point Reward Cinema Trip

Monday, 12 November 2018

St Peters are the early leaders on the house point chart this term and they were rewarded with a visit to the cinema in Walsall to watch The Greatest Showman. They came in their own clothes, bought snacks to eat and loved the huge, comfy seats! Everyone had a great time and the children behaved brilliantly in what was a packed screening.

Decca visit year 1 and 2

Monday, 12 November 2018

Key Stage 1 had a special afternoon assembly today delivered by Decca. It taught them all about medicines. They learnt about what medicines look like, where to store them, how they can help us and also how they can harm us if not taken correctly.

The children then thought about which adults they can trust and go to if they ever need help. Finally, we discussed who to call in an emergency. We went through the process of dialing 999 and what to say. The children are all going to try to learn their addresses and phone numbers as this information could help them in an emergency.

This afternoon Y6 had a talk from DECCA to learn more about the effects of drugs and alcohol. Some of the children tried goggles which demonstrated the effect of alcohol.

All of the children behaved really well and learnt lots from the visit.

Mrs Owen’s Birthday Celebration

Saturday, 10 November 2018

On Friday afternoon we celebrated Mrs Owen’s big birthday with her in a special assembly. The choir sang her favourite song Mamma Mia and there were brilliantly delivered performances from year 1 and 2 including Macaton and poetry. Finally, each class presented beautifully made cards to Mrs Owen which included individual messages from everybody. The staff presented flowers, cards and gifts too and we all hope that Mrs Owen had an enjoyable and memorable day which is well deserved after so many years of service to Bosco. A lovely end to the week.

Year 4 Remembrance Assembly

Saturday, 10 November 2018

Year 4 performed an extremely respectful assembly Friday morning to remember all those who have fought and died at war since World War I over 100 years ago. They delivered their lines clearly and sang so well, in what was an emotional morning. The rest of the children listened in silence to mark a perfect Remembrance Day tribute.

Boys’ Futsal District Winners!

Saturday, 10 November 2018

Our boys 5-a-side football team played a slightly different version of football called Futsal. This is played indoors with a size 3 ball which is slightly heavier than a standard football. Right from the beginning our boys adjusted well to this type of football and played some good stuff, scoring regularly. We had to be switched on at the other end too as the standard was extremely high. The matches were short, and came thick and fast but our boys were up to the challenge. We won all 5 group matches to qualify for the final group in first place. We then won our next two games 4-0 and 1-0 to set up a grand final! This was extremely close and ended a 1-1 draw meaning that the two sides finished equal 1st place! A massive well done to our boys – every single one of them was fantastic throughout the tournament. A special mention though goes to our goalkeeper Oskar who only conceded 2 goals in the 8 games we played. Well done boys!

Year 2 Gurdwara Visit

Saturday, 10 November 2018

Year 2 had a fantastic time and learnt so much at our local Gurdwara. Our host, Harinder was very friendly and informative and so were all the other volunteers working there. We were shown round, taught about the Sikh religion, given plenty to eat and even a gift to bring back to school too! We learnt key information about the Sikh faith including the 5K’s, the Guru’s and their belief that we are all equal and God is inside everybody. Thank you to all of our staff who walked with us, to everyone at the Gurdwara who looked after us and to class 2 who were amazingly well behaved! They were respectful, calm and knowledgeable. Well done to all of year 2!

Girls’ Football Festival

Saturday, 10 November 2018

We brought 15 girls split into 2 teams over to Wolverhampton Uni to play a festival on their astro-turf. The girls warmed up well and were very excited to play, then the weather decided to take a turn for the worse and we all got drenched! Despite this, the girls carried on. They played extremely well and I was very proud of them. Margaret and Maisie scored their first goals for us and Mia and Lesharna were excellent in goal at the other end. Overall, we won 3, drew 3 and lost 1. The girls made great progress during the festival and should be delighted with their performances. Thanks to Mrs Cresswell who accompanied us too.

NSPCC visit Bosco

Wednesday, 7 November 2018

Today, we were visited by NSPCC staff and their Speak out Stay safe mascot, Buddy the speech bubble. They discussed with children the importance of sharing their worries and concerns with trusted adults to stay safe. Children took part in answering questions and sharing any potential worries they may have.

Dinsoaur Day

Monday, 5 November 2018

Today, children in all classes had the opportunity to be fossil hunters where they discovered many interesting facts about dinosaurs.

In the afternoon, we had a visit from a giant T-rex! The day was thoroughly enjoyed by everybody and we now look forward to seeing some high quality writing and artwork that will be produced as a result of the fantastic experience.
