Indoor Athletics Festival

Tuesday, 26 February 2019

Five of our year 6 children enjoyed an afternoon of athletics over at Sandwell Academy. They completed the long jump, javelin throw, short and middle distances races and a relay. The afternoon was a lot of fun and all of our children did their best. There was a lot of good teamwork and encouragement between them too. Standout performances came from Parminder who won his sprint and Hayden with an excellent long jump score. The laces for this event go to Krrish for his great attitude – doing his best, smiling and keeping everyone entertained, and for encouraging his team mates. Well done everyone!

Making animations!

Monday, 25 February 2019

Today in ICT club, children used a software called Pivot Stickfigure Animator that allows them to create sprite animations. Using the red points around the object, they can move any part of the figure to show whether it is waving, dancing, performing somersaults and many more.

The platform allows them to change the colour of their object or stick figure animation.

Children are preparing an animation film over the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

Pioneer Day 3

Thursday, 14 February 2019

Another fantastic action packed day filled with laughter and new friendships. Well done Year 6 you have been amazing and you have achieved so many goals, whether it is achieving the leap of faith or whizzing down the zip wire, we are very proud of you! We finished the day with a great campfire – ask Year 6 to sing the banana song.

Super Scientists

Thursday, 14 February 2019

Y5 have been scientists this half term. We have researched different scientists and their discoveries. We even had the chance to carry out our own forensic tests to solve a crime. We discussed the importance of DNA analysis and how the result of a DNA test is generally accepted as a fact in court!

Science Club

Thursday, 14 February 2019

Over the past few weeks, science club have been taking part in a variety of experiments, including: optical illusions, lava lamps and balloon rockets. To round off a successful half term of science, we used our knowledge of weight distribution to stand on a dozen eggs without it breaking!

A Musical Eruption

Thursday, 14 February 2019

As part of Year 3’s volcano learning this half term, they sung a song all about volcanoes. They performed this musical masterpiece using the track ‘Walking on Sunshine’ and putting together actions to represent the tectonic plates, the earthquake and the pressure inside the volcano within the magma chamber. They called this song ‘Walking on Lava’.

Pioneer Day 2 – “I believe I can fly”

Wednesday, 13 February 2019

Wow! What an action packed day we have had at a sunny but a rather cool Pioneer. Here we are facing our fears and screaming as we travel down the zip wire, abseiling down walls like Spiderman, and just having lots of fun with our friends as we go. We finished the afternoon with a spur of the moment mud fight which ended with Krrish performing a ‘mud angel’.

Pioneer Day 2
