Sandwell Tennis Competition

Thursday afternoon saw another of our teams try and qualify for the Black Country Games, this time playing tennis. There were 10 teams involved and we had an A and B team competing. Some of the children were a little nervous at first but they soon got into it. Indeed, both of our teams won their groups to reach the semi-finals. In close contests, our B team lost to Langley whilst our A team beat Abbey. Both teams played one more match – our A team in the final and B team in the 3rd/4th play-off. Incredibly both matches were drawn 2-2. Therefore, the organisers had to look at the margins of victory and defeat. Unfortunately, we were on the wrong end of this outcome in both matches, meaning that we finished 2nd and 4th overall. It was a great competition though and we still qualified for the School Games along with Langley so we look forward to playing again. Thank you to Mrs Lowings for her coaching tips and guiding the team.
