A group of enthusiastic children came along to New Road, Worcester to watch Worcestershire play against Gloucestershire in a County Championship game. It was a fantastic afternoon, with the staff at Worcestershire looking after us superbly. After being greeted, we watched the final hour of Worcestershire’s innings before being given a tour of the ground, including the museum. The children asked lots of questions and learnt a number of things about cricket and New Road itself, including its history of flooding. We were then treated to some free merchandise by the kind staff at club shop before it was arranged that we could meet some current and former Worcestershire players for autographs and photos. The weather was excellent too, so we sat and watched some more of the game before leaving with it finely poised as the hosts hope to take the remaining 6 wickets to get the win tomorrow morning. Again, huge thanks to Dan and all the staff at Worcestershire for making our visit so memorable and well done to all of the children who were complimented by several spectators for their super behaviour. We look forward to going back in the near future.
