What a run our country has been on with the football! After 55 years of long waiting for our country, the England Football Team have finally reached another major final since our triumphant victory in the 1966 World Cup. The atmosphere across the UK and school has been electric; Gareth Southgate and the players have truly done us all proud.
Today, all the staff and children celebrated England’s success and used the football to raise funds for St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School. They are hoping to raise £5000 to support two members of their school community who are currently battling cancer. The children gave donations and wore the nation’s colours – red, white and blue – with some dressed in an England football shirt. One grandparent at SJB generously donated £200 to the fundraiser after hearing about their cause – such an incredible gesture.
Together, we pray for all those battling cancer and well as their friends and families; we shall keep them in our thoughts during this very difficult time.
