Sandwell Cricket Tournament

Friday, 23 May 2014

On Thursday we went to the WBA dome to compete in the Sandwell Cricket tournament against 11 other schools.

We played really well; fielding with confidence and batting superbly.
We beat St Philip’s in our opening game, limiting them to a score of 97 and scoring 158 ourselves. Reon Hodgson top scored in that game and Josh Harris took two great catches.

In our next match we beat Uplands Manor by 20 runs with Alfie Harwood top scoring with the bat and Elliot Hill taking two wickets.

In the semi finals we were again convincing winners, this time by a winning margin of an incredible 60 runs. Doyle Holyhead top scored and Maicie Golding bowled a wicket in a much improved bowling display for her.

The final saw us up against Rednall Hill Primary. Again we fielded well limiting them to 113 but we were unable to reproduce our excellent form with the bat and in the end unfortunately lost by 8 runs.

Given that we’ve not played much cricket, to finish 2nd of all Sandwell schools is fantastic so well done to all of those involved.

Black Country Games

Friday, 23 May 2014

On Tuesday we went to Old Halesonians Rugby Club to represent Sandwell in the tag rugby Black Country Games.

We played really well against some excellent opposition so ended up finishing 3rd in our group, narrowly missing out on the semi finals.

Particular mention to Josh Harris and Alfie Harwood who scored lots of tries between them, Megan Winsper for her quick thinking to get us on the attack quickly and Jamie Chappell for his cover tackles.

Overall we finished 5th out of all of the schools in the Black Country so we are very proud of our achievement.

Mixed football fortunes

Friday, 23 May 2014

Our final two football matches of the half term led to differing outcomes. On Monday we continued our winning ways with a 6-3 victory over Wednesbury Oak despite going 3-0 down. Jamie Chappell capped a player of the match performance with 4 goals and Josh Harris chipped in with 2 more goals from midfield.

On Wednesday we went to Hamstead and played on a very large pitch! Our players took their time to get used to the pitch and unfortunately we soon found ourselves 2-0 down. However, we battled back with an outstanding 2nd half performance but unfortunately still ended up losing 2-1. Our consolation goal was scored by Josh.

Year 3/4/5 Tennis

Friday, 23 May 2014

On Tuesday we went to George Salter to take part in the West Brom schools tennis tournament.

We played really well and were delighted to finish 2nd overall – a massive achievement.

All of the children played really well but particular mention to Maicie Golding who was the overall girls’ winner, Oliwia who won her section of the tournament and Alex Lowings who was 2nd place in his section of the tournament.

Two more wins

Thursday, 15 May 2014

We continued our excellent form on the football pitch with 2 more wins this week.

Firstly, on Tuesday we went to Hargate where we were convincing 15-4 winners with 6 goals each for Jamie and Elliot, 2 for Josh and 1 for Doyle.

Then on Thursday we travelled to St Hubert’s and this time ended up with a 4-1 victory with a hat trick from Jamie and an expertly converted Josh penalty.

We have 2 more matches next week where we’ll be looking to continue our winning run.

Frank Chapman day one

Monday, 12 May 2014

We’ve all had a great first day here at Frank Chapman doing lots of different activities like rock climbing, nature art, fire building and nature trails! This evening we went on a huge walk through the forest jumping in mud until we reached the magic tree where we all got to make a special wish.¬†Then we enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate and biscuits before bed. We’re all having a brilliant time and¬†looking forward to the rest of the week’s adventures.

Football vs Glebefields

Saturday, 10 May 2014

Yesterday we went to Hill Top Park to play football against Glebefields. They had beaten us in the cup earlier in the season so we were looking for revenge in this league match.

We started really well, scoring in the opening minute through Jamie Chappell. Soon we made it 2 with a great header from Elliot Hill from a Josh Harris corner. Glebefields got one back just before half time to make it 2-1 at the interval.

Again we started confidently with a quick goal from Elliot Hill to regain our two goal lead. A couple of great saves from James Pender maintained our lead and some terrific defending from Alfie Harwood and Doyle Holyhead kept their chances to a minimum.

We pressed again and some great work from Maicie Golding and Jamie Lovatt led to another Elliot Hill goal to make the score 4-1. Glebefields nicked one before the end of the game but it didn’t spoil the result or performance with Bosco taking the 3 points with a 4-2 victory.

This was our best display of the season so well done to the team and thank you to everyone who came to watch as we had a big crowd supporting us.

This result puts us 2nd in the league out of 11 teams so we are now looking to push on and win it for the first time.
