Bosco Win Girls Only Tag Rugby Competition

Tuesday, 31 October 2017

A fantastic evening of rugby saw St. John Bosco crowned Champions in a ten team tag rugby tournament. We entered two teams and all our girls performed extremely well. Our B team was slightly more inexperienced, with some young players getting a taste of what it is like to play against other schools. After a difficult start in the first two games, they recovered well to gain positive results in their other two matches. Meanwhile, our A team dominated their group with four wins out of four, scoring at least 5 tries each time. We then played St. Mary’s in the semi-final and earned a comfortable 3-1 win. The final was tense and mistakes crept in as the girls became tired but we had enough to get over the line, scoring a length of the field try right at the end to win 2-1. A massive well done to all involved. We brought back an impressive shield for the cabinet and all of the girls, both A and B teams took home medals.

Maths Trip with Jaguar Land Rover

Sunday, 29 October 2017

On Thursday 19th October, 12 children from KS2 visited the Jaguar Land Rover factory in Wolverhampton.

The day was really fun! We got to have a tour of the factory and play lots of maths games. The first maths game was great! We got to use actual Jaguar Land Rover measuring equipment and we decided if engine parts were accurate. Jaguar Land Rover measure in microns. A unit of measurement even smaller than a millimetre! If they were not we made the decision to recycle them.

The last challenge of the day was really tricky! We had to solve problems using all four operations and when we had successfully done that we were able to build part of a Jaguar Land Rover engine!

Cross Country

Thursday, 26 October 2017

The cross country against other schools was called off so we decided to run our own races against each other. All the children who ran did very well and had lots of fun cheering each other on too. This is great preparation for when we do get to compete against other schools. A number of children were rewarded for their effort and conduct on the day: Tyrekh, Paige, Cheyenne, Travis, Eunice, Courtney, Maja,

Our race winners were: Tioluwa, Jowita, Nathaniel, Sania, Cayden, Paulina P, Jonathan, Efe.

Well done everyone involved.

Indoor Football Competition

Wednesday, 25 October 2017

We took two teams over to the WBA indoor dome to compete in a 24-team tournament. It was great fun and our children all did their best against strong opposition. Our B team had a shaky start, losing their first 3, but then played really well in their last two games to achieve two draws. Meanwhile, our A team experienced mixed fortunes. They won one, drew two and lost one. They then needed to win their last group game to reach the quarter finals. Unfortunately, in going for the win, they lost the game and went out. A good experience for all involved though as we look ahead to future fixtures.
