Upton Warren day 2

Friday, 25 October 2019

After an evening hot chocolate and a few indoor games with lots of giggles, the children were sensible and slept well. Today we worked well as a team to serve breakfast and lunch together. In between, we went off into the woods to play hide and seek and explore the nature. It was great fun. As you can see from the photos, some were better at hiding than others! The gate we had to climb to get there became infamous too, with several children (and adults) conquering their fears! It’s been a fantastic trip. Well done to all of class 5 and a massive thank you to all of the staff who have accompanied us.

Class 5 at Upton Warren

Thursday, 24 October 2019

We all enjoyed a fantastic day together at Upton Warren. We’ve been on a nature walk, played numerous team building games, watched the stars together and even had a fabulous chip shop dinner! We are looking forward to our camping tonight and more excitement tomorrow. Well done class 5 for your excellent behaviour and enthusiasm and a big thank you to all the staff who have been with us.

Year 2’s Story Time

Wednesday, 23 October 2019

Year 2 had a special visitor today called Sue. She joined us during our English lesson.

The children heard a interesting story with a special twist about a wolf and a little lamb. Once the children had finished listening to the story, it was then their turn to write the next part. We had interesting tales of an alien invasion and a witch who kidnapped them, taking them to an evil, secret land.

Monet painting in Arts and Crafts.

Monday, 21 October 2019

In Arts and Crafts club we explored Monet’s painting of The Water-Lilly Pond. We then attempted to re-create this using water colours and pink tissue paper for the flowers.

Show Racism the Red Card

Friday, 18 October 2019

We wore red today to support the national campaign ‘Show racism the red card’. The children enjoyed learning about racism and the importance of putting a stop to it. During the assembly, the children gave some brilliant responses about treating each other equally and to love thy neighbour.

Sports Leader Training

Thursday, 17 October 2019

All of class 5 and 6 received some training on how to be a sports leader. We already have 8 children working hard at lunch times to engage younger children in sports activities and we could now assign some more to help them. We worked on the principle of ensuring that activities are safe but enjoyable, whilst being as active as possible. The children worked hard and gained a lot from the session.

Tag Rugby World Cup Festival

Tuesday, 15 October 2019

We brought two teams over to Kings Norton Rugby Club for a full afternoon of rugby as part of a World Cup festival for children in years 4 and 5. Each team played 9 matches so it was tiring, but great fun. Our two Bosco teams represented England and Wales respectively and it was lovely to see them improve with each game they played, learning to find space and run more directly. All children came away with a medal and a set of laces to show that their attitude reflected all of the core rugby values including teamwork, sportsmanship and respect. Well done everyone and thanks to Miss Tariq for joining us too.
